I picked these fire blankets up for a couple reasons with safety and convenience being the primary aspects of my decision.First, these blankets are packaged in such a way that they can be easily mounted within reach for easy deployment where needed. The hanging gromet is large enough that you can put a solid screw, bolt or hook through for hanging and allow the blanket to be pulled out easily when needed.Secondly, I like the idea of having a fire blanket that is both safe for use on household and small fires and something that won’t leave a powder or liquid residue when used. Fire extinguishers are great and take care of most jobs but leave behind a residue after use. I still have my extinguishers available if needed but I can use this first if deemed appropriate and not have additional cleanup afterwards.Small stove top fires can be quickly extinguished by deploying the blanket over top of the stove. The blanket is large enough to cover most common stove top ranges and small appliances such as toasters and crockpots. The blanket is deployed by pulling the black webbed pull handles and dropping the blanket down. Unfold it and throw it over the fire to extinguish. You can also train yourself and others to deploy the blanket and then simply refold and restow the blanket for emergency use without harming the blanket and contents.I mounted one inside my kitchen sink cabinet by the stove and a second one in the pantry should I ever need them quickly in an emergency. The bright yellow color is easily seen and draws attention when needed.
