Forty years ago I was a keen amateur photographer and I paid over $100 for a macro lens. They cost over $400 now. So for $40, I wasn’t expecting anything brilliant. This lens is pretty much what I was expecting.It comes in a good, reusable case which is really important. Swapping the lens with the standard one is very easy – rotate 45 degrees and the old one comes out. Reverse the process to attach the macro. It’s a good fit with no sloppiness. Perfect alignment is essential with all lenses – doubly so with macro lenses.The optical quality is good. See the attached photo. You can see the standard lens cannot focus on anything closer than 12″. The macro lens focuses up to 2.5″. It’s not the 1″ focal length your $400 macro lens can achieve, but it will let you get close up shots of flowers and insects and stuff like that.I’m not sure what the 15x is supposed to refer to. It lets you get 5x closer.
