Have now purchased and used 10 of these! They work very well as long as you trim the adapter short enough for tension to be created. I initially used these on a round ~ 10 in. diameter cooler. Due to the arc, I needed to purchase some thicker plumbing washers and use a bit of silicon sealant, but that did the trick and I now have a perfect cooler drinker that keeps the water from freezing during the cold winter days (and will keep it cool in the summer.)However, on my next cooler, I used a square one & they worked perfect as is./no modifications needed other than trimming to the correct length.It did take me 2 tries on the very first adapter I used to get it the correct length, as initially I did not cut it quite short enough for there to be tension when the nipple was screwed in. Drill all of your holes LEVEL, then with ONE, trim, try by installing with nipple, and adjust as needed, then trim remaining ones and install. If the nipple base isn’t flush against the cooler, it isn’t creating tension and pulling the inside of the adapter/washer tight against the inside of the cooler. Remove & trim a bit more.On square/rectangular coolers (or any with flat walls/sides), these are very easy to install correctly and use = without leaking. If you are using a round cooler, the larger the better (wider arc). However, as noted above, will work with smaller round coolers with modifications…namely thicker washers and maybe a bit of silicon sealant (actually, only needed the sealant on the one hole I drilled at a slight angle. All the holes drilled perfectly square only needed the thicker washer to work.)I love my small (2 gallon) cooler waterers/drinkers! They are easy to move, the girls love their UNFROZEN water, and they keep their water much cleaner. I definitely recommend using these adapters on coolers if you live in a place with very cold or very hot weather to keep the water drinkable for your girls!
