I bought three sets of these to make two 8 ft wood racks, so that the centers wouldn’t sag. Assembly was easy, and the racks as I made them have lasted well. I just bought another set for an additional rack.A couple points. First I’d recommend doing as I did (buying an extra set to have a base piece in the middle to prevent sag and increase sturdiness); or, alternatively, to diy the support piece of 2×4 or 4×4 in the middle for that purpose. (I made 8 ft racks – you won’t need to do this for a four or five ft rack)Second, some diy’ers who’ve reviewed this product have said with the level of constructing you’re going to do anyway, you might as well build from scratch – you’ve got to buy some lumber anyway to complete the project. They’re not wrong , but I’d respectfully disagree. These support pieces are well worth it, in that they basically take the figuring, measuring, lay-out, and most of the cutting out of the equation. The durable plastic base pieces are sturdy and will last for years (my old ones are going into year four), and they’ll assure your rack is square and true. The most cutting you’ll need to do is cutting a couple of 8 footers in half for the uprights. Assembly is a 20 minute project. Well worth the purchase.Last, a few reviewers have mentioned is all you get are these plastic pieces! Well, yeah, no 2x4s are provided, you’ll have to go to the lumber yard or big box store of choice to buy them, so the cost of the base pieces will not be your total expenditure here.
